The season kickoff in March will take place in a luxurios homebase in Sintra, Portugal. The WLC Supreme Camp is going to offer not only longboarding workshops and skateboard sessions, but also great opportunities to relax in the beautiful surroundings of Sintra, including Yoga, Sauna and Jacuzzi Sessions.
In June, it is time to go back to the roots with a WLC Basic Camp. The second camp of the year will be going down in Stuttgart, Germany, where you can explore riding spots in the parks and vineyards near Stuttgart.
Teaming up with Woodwings, a Freeride Camp will happen in South France in August. With longboarding workshops for all disciplines and the chance to freeride two closed roads it’s for sure going to be a good time.
german snowboarder Nicola Thost played a big role in developing womens freestyle snowboarding. she won the halfpipe contest at the olympics in 1998 and didn’t stop winning contests after that.
in 2010, she decided to quit riding halfpipe contests. in the same year, she started an initiative called Sprungbrett to help kids and teenagers to pursue their dream of becoming pro snowboarders.
come the winter of 2014/2015, Nicola got the chance to try her hand at freeride contests. she scored a wildcard for one event of the Freeride World Tour and made her way to the finals in Verbier. with a mix of freestyle tricks and high-speed, fluid riding, she was even able to win the legendary event in Verbier.
remember though – if we normal people (read: non pros, not shooting a professional video) ride off piste, we always bring along our safety gear – beacon, probe, shovel, first aid kit – in a backpack ;) stay safe and live to shred another day!
